Trails races, marathons, 1/2 marathon and more were all part of the Memorial Day Weekend for many Wicked Runners. There were PR’s, a first time marathon runnner, a couple of award winners and many smiles. Hope your holiday weekend was one to remember!
Don’t forget to send an email to Tim Short with the name of the race that you ran and he will include your results in the next post. This will be very important as we are heading into the busy summer racing season.
If a race asks for a club name please don’t forget to write in Wicked Running Club! Many races have team results and in the past we have been able to pick up some well deserved hardware for our efforts! For USATF races please use club number 266. Be loud and proud about Wicked!
Also, if you have club clothing, be sure to wear it to races. Not only will this help promote the club, but it will also be easier for photographers (Like our very own Gif Campbell) to spot you during a race. Other clubs/runners love seeing our logo! It’s very impressive and inspiring to see so many Wicked Runners with their Wicked Gear!

The series shifted gears going from a 4-mile flat course to a grueling hilly half marathon challenge in Gloucester and Rockport. Fifteen members joined the fun and the series stands at 107 participants! Spectators were treated to a battle between Kenyan David Ndungo and our own John Ayers for first place, ultimately John finished in second place following a gallant effort. Numerous members picked up age group awards. We all appreciated the tremendous crowd support during the race. Thank you to Matt Adams and his family, T.R., Kyle Hewson, and all other members who kept us going during this challenging event.
Team Lynx has charged to the team series lead followed closely by the Panthers, Lions, Wildcats, and Cougars in a close race. There is only a 20-point gap between the first and last teams, so be sure to show up at future races to support your teammates. Billy Jackson has assumed a 3-point lead over Chris Nolan in the male division. Catalina Dominick continues to hold a 6-point lead in the overall division over Wendi Marciano.
Brad Gates continues to recover from his collapse at the finish of the half marathon. We are pleased to witness the outpouring of support for Brad from club members, the D5K crew, friends, and the running community at large. We all are looking forward to seeing Brad’s smiling face soon and wish him a complete recovery.
Please e-mail any corrections to me at welshhammer@gmail.com. The corrections will appear is the next series results. The next race in the series is the Jennifer Tinney Memorial 5 Mile road race in Boxford, Ma on July 4th at 8 a.m. It is beautiful, gently rolling course in a countryside setting early in the day before the summer time heat sets in. Hope to see you there!

Shannon Downey racing to the finish line in the Patrick Downey 5K
Mothers Day weekend was a big one for Wicked Runners! Tons of great races and good running weather all made for a very enjoyable time.
The racing started early for some as a few members of Wicked got out their trail shoes for a race on Friday night. Other Wicked Runners traveled to New Hampshire to get in a half marathon and a large crew came out to support Shannon Downey and the Patrick Downey 5K.
Congrats to all who raced! Don’t forget that our next Wicked Grand Prix Race is the Twin Lights Half Marathon on May 15. More information about the Wicked Grand Prix Series can be found by clicking on the following link: http://wickedrunningclub.com/race-info/wicked-grand-prix-series/
Remember to get your race results to Tim Short and he will post them on the next Weekend Race Results post!

Wow, last weekend was full of awesome races and results! Wicked took the top three overall spots in Haverhill, another member ran a half marathon in Quebec and another member of Wicked Nation completed her first half marathon. Wicked had members running in MA, RI, NH and even another country! Congrats to everyone!
Lots of races coming up this weekend, including the Patrick Downey 5K on Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to send an email to Tim Short with the name of your race and your results. Pictures would be great as well!
Also, leave a comment about the new look displaying the results! We are still trying to work out some issues, so please be patient.
