Boston Marathon Invitational Numbers for Wicked
For the first time, the Boston Athletic Association has invited members of the Wicked Running Club to participate in the Boston Marathon invitational bib program and has granted two applications to be distributed to Wicked Runners. Melissa Jaynes and Chris Nolin were selected as the recipients of the two numbers through a lottery system that was established by the Board of Directors.
If you have any questions about applying for a number, please send an email to info@wickedrunningclub.com with the subject headline: Boston Marathon Invitational Bib Number.
There are certain BAA rules that any member of the Wicked Running Club will need to adhere to if they are awarded a Boston Marathon Bib Number.
- You will need to complete and send in the marathon application that we will give you asap with a strict deadline of January 13, 2012.
- Include with the application your payment of $300 for the invitational entry fee.
- Train to run the marathon to achieve a finish time of 4 hours and 30 mins or better.
- Once the application has been submitted to the BAA, no substitutions can be made. If you become injured and are unable to run Boston 2012, you must notify both the Board and the BAA immediately. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE THESE APPLICATIONS TO BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER PARTY, SOLD, AUCTIONED, USED AS AWARDS OR DISTRIBUTED IN ANY OTHER MANNER. Any conflicts will result in the disqualification of the runner and review of the club’s standing in the B.A.A. Running Club Program.

Boston Marathon in Wicked Bites
We will be coordinating the running of the Boston Marathon course over two days this winter/spring season. Our first run will be Sunday March 11th. Leaving from Salem Senior Center 5 Broad Street, Salem @ 9:00 am. We will drive into the start of the marathon and run the first half from Hopkinton to Wellesley. Typically we drop a car at our finish destination and all pile into another car to drive the beginning and reverse the process at the end (we’ll use more cars as required).
The one draw back of this part of the route is that much of the area does not have a side walk or shoulder to the road. Much of the time we are running in the road taking advantage of strength and visibility in #s.
We have been know to grab some delicious post run food as well. We should be back in Salem in the 2:30 – 3:00 range.
Email Tim Short if you’d like to join us, your cell # and whether you’d be willing to drive. This group run is open to all members of Wicked, whether you are running the Boston Marathon this year or not.
The second run will take place in March and a date will be deciced in the near future.
Volunteering for the Boston Marathon
