A few Wicked Runners took advantage of the season’s first major snow storm to get a practice run in before the 1st Olde Salem Greens Snowshoe Classic coming up on January 9th. Check out the hardy bunch in the pictures below who ran through Lynn Woods yesterday. If you are interested in racing the Snowshoe Classic in a few weeks click here to download the application or head over to active.com to sign up online.

Wicked is now offering another Club organized run! For those who are interested, the “No Rest for the Wicked” (“NRFTW”) meets every Thursday at 6:45p.m. at the Salem Common entrance by the Hawthorne Hotel. Just like any other Club run, it will be held “rain or shine,” provided there are no municipal/governmental storm warnings in effect requesting people to stay at home.
The route (map of route) is about 3.2 miles, starting at the Salem Common, going along Little Hawthorne Blvd, a left on Derby, partway into Juniper Point, a left on Lowell, continuing through the Willows parking lot area, left on Memorial (which becomes Essex Street Eventually), left on Little Hawthorne Blvd, and finishing at the corner of Little Hawthorne Blvd and Derby Street by the Immaculate Conception parking lot.
After the run those interested meet at the nearby Engine House Pizza restaurant for an inexpensive supper.
Mia Poppe, who has been organizing this run for the past couple of weeks has also created a facebook page, check it out when you get a chance!
In photo back row: Bruce Campbell, Sally Holtzman, Bill Shea, Karen Girous, Becky Fiore. Front L to R: Alison Phelan, Beth O’Grady and Melissa Jaynes. Melissa is training for the Vermont City Marathon, and the rest of the crew is preparing for Boston.
9 Wicked Running members took part in the “Run to the Beach 30k” on Sunday, March 15. This FREE organized training run attracted 100 runners and spanned from North Andover to Salisbury. It was a nice treat to be handed water every 5 miles or so, and although the course was hilly, it was balanced by beautiful early spring weather.
At the end of the day, no one had any complaints and everyone was happy with their finish time. The best part was running back to the car for a tailgate party of homemade cookies, salty snacks and ice cold water. It was a wicked good team effort!

Great group of Wicked Runners showed up today to run in the warm weather. A sure sign of spring
as we see our numbers growing for our Saturday runs at Forest River Park. Not pictured is Tim Short who took the picture. Please join us at 8am each Saturday morning.
Last year Wicked member Tim Clarke came up with a brilliant idea of breaking up the Boston Marathon into chunks so that people could prepare themselves for the long Journey from Hopkinton to Boston. Once again, Tim lead a small band of Wicked Runners down to Hopkinton, MA over the weekend to run the first 8 miles of the Boston Marathon. The weather was great, albeit a tad windy. Colin Maclay and Rachel Hunt who also made the trip down, brought some delicious post run cookies! Our tour Guide Tim Clarke, provided the troops with Gatorade and some outstanding trail mix as well. Below are a few pictures for your view pleasure!

It’s been a busy week and I have been late in reporting the first ever Slow Run Pot Luck Dinner on July 14th. However, with running, super people, and great food, you won’t be surprised to hear it was a great success!
We had more people attending, 15 with 10 running, than on any other Monday night. (The neighbors were astonished, and pleased, to see so many people running through our quiet neighborhood.)

front row:
Alison Phelan, Dan Leadvaro, Allison Rourke, Marie Gesnaldo, Susan Keezer
back row:
Kerry (Alison’s daughter), Amber Woolfenden, Tricia Pini, Joe Ferlazzo, Shari Hewson, John Mahoney
Those participating but not in the photo were:
Sarah Calland, Rich Girard, Christine Lutz (Rich’s wife), Nancy Morgan (my wife)
I am sure you will want to know what we had to eat and I love remembering…
veggie burgers, fresh fruit, macaroni salad, bean salad, marinated chicken wings, grilled marinated chicken, garden salad, yummy bread, grilled haddock, and ice cream bars and chocolate chip cookies – not to mention the various drinks, beer, and wine.
Finally, you should all know that Kerry is a very interesting person to run with. I learned that she will be starting as a freshman in high school next fall, that she plans to run cross country and track, and that she is the person who got her mother to join the Wicked Running Club! Way to go!
This next Monday we will have to see if we can do another Slow Run Pot Luck Dinner before the summer is over.
Look at this Wicked happy bunch of runners! Once again we had a great turn out this morning at Forest River Park. Want to join in on the fun? Come by Forest River Park every Saturday morning at 8am. Looking to get in a few miles before running with the group? Use the message board and organize a time to meet up with some of the other members of the club.
The lightening and rain held off and we had a great Slow Run Monday. The pace was pleasant at 10 to 12 min/mi and we ran from 3 to 4.5 miles. A really nice group of runners!
This week the runners were:
Belinda Pattison
John Mahoney
Tricia Pini
Shari Hewson
Joe Ferlazzo (Plans to join the 5:30 AM group this Thu.)
Kathey Moskal (Joined Wicked Running tonight!)
This was a first time Mon Run for Shari and Tricia and only the second time for Kathey. These three got to talking and soon realized that they would all be running in the Louise Rosetti Race on Wed. Hope you all have a great race! All you Wicked Runners that have not yet meet these people, this will be a good time to say hello!
Looking forward to running next Monday. You should join us. If you want more info, contact john@wickedrunningclub.com
Under a deep blue sky and a brilliant June sun, there was a strong group of Wicked runners at Forest River Park this morning. We had 19 members running out on the trail and some great conversations were being had! Don’t forget, the Club meets at Forest River Park every Saturday Morning at 8 am. Can’t wait to see everyone next Saturday!
This morning’s 5:30 AM run attracted a good sized field of 13 runners: Dan, Steph, Danny, Paula, Karen, Deb, Steve, Rachel, Colin, Tim, Moe, Billy P. and Billy S. The ocean breezes kept things pretty comfortable, although we were all dripping wet at the end. The pre and post run topic of conversation seemed to revolve around everyone’s tatoos. Those without one seem to be in the minority! Stay cool everybody; it’s going to get wicked hot today!
