Weiner Run 10K- Prelude to the Fourth

Easy, guys. It’s just a race!

What better way to start the week of Fourth of July than with a good old-fashioned weiner roast. Those of us that traveled up to Asbury Grove in Hamilton Monday night got to experience this, with one catch. You had to run a 10K before experiencing any pre-holiday feast. The Weiner Run 10K has been a tradition at Asbury Grove for several years. It is a friendly, low-key race put on each year by Roger Perham. Most of the participants are “Lynn Woods” people, but this year there was quite a “Wicked Presence,” many of whom also participate in the Lynn Woods series on Wednesday nights. Those running from Wicked were the following: Tim Short, Patrick Smith, Denise Murphy, Dan Cooper, Stephanie Cooper, Chip Bott, and Jay Curry. I’m pleased to report that all finished with great times, and we can even claim second and third place overall finishers: Dan Cooper and Tim Short. Great job, everybody.

Prior to the “adult” race, there was a “Kids’ 3/4 Mile Race.” “Wicked Children” participating were Chip’s daughter and son, Kathryn and Luke. It was so cute watching them run. And they were fast!!!!

Rumor has it that it was Doug Bollen’s birthday yesterday, and that he might show up at the Weiner Run to celebrate. He was a “no-show,” but we all certainly want to wish him a “Wicked Happy Birthday.” By the way, Doug, I was looking at race results from the weekend and you were listed as 49. Does this mean you turned the big 5-0 yesterday? Oh no! If so, another competitor in my age group! Seriously, congratulations, and if you are fifty, it’s not that bad–just a lot more aches and pains.
