51st Annual Yankee Homecoming Road Races

If there is one race on the North Shore that screams “summer time classic” it has to be the Yankee Homecoming Road Races. Both the 5K and 10M are held on a Tuesday night and one can usually expect the weather to be hazy, hot and very humid.

The 51st edition of this race saw 1,759 runners finish the 5K while the 10 Miler had 1,253 runners cross the finish line. Just over 3,000 runners combine for both races is a decent showing for a race that takes place at 6PM early in the work week. Right before the start of both races there was quick shower,  but it didn’t really cool things off too much.  As runners started it was warm, but not to bad.

Wicked selected the 10 Miler has part of the this year’s club Grand Prix Series and over 40 Wicked Runners made the trip up route 95.  We also had representation in the 5K.

Leading the way for the guys, Dave Long with a very impressive 103:59. Annie Rose Willis ran strong for the ladies, finishing in 1:13: 27.

Below are the results from both races. If you do not see your name and you did run the 5K or 10M,  please send an email to Tim Short and he will update the results. Full Grand Prix results will be coming out in the next few days so check back here real soon!

Weekend Race Results 5/28-5/30

Trails races, marathons, 1/2 marathon and more were all part of the Memorial Day Weekend for many Wicked Runners. There were PR’s,  a first time marathon runnner, a couple of award winners and many smiles. Hope your holiday weekend was one to remember!

Don’t forget to send an email to Tim Short with the name of the race that you ran and he will include your results in the next post. This will be very important as we are heading into the busy summer racing season.

If a race asks for a club name please don’t forget to write in Wicked Running Club! Many races have team results and in the past we have been able to pick up some well deserved hardware for our efforts! For USATF races please use club number 266. Be loud and proud about Wicked! :)

Also, if you have club clothing, be sure to wear it to races.  Not only will this help promote the club, but it will also be easier for photographers (Like our very own Gif Campbell) to  spot you during a race. Other clubs/runners love seeing our logo! It’s very impressive and inspiring to see so many Wicked Runners with their Wicked Gear!

Weekend Race Results 5/6-5/8

Shannon Downey racing to the finish line in the Patrick Downey 5K

Mothers Day weekend was a big one for Wicked Runners! Tons of great races and good running weather all made for a very enjoyable time.

The racing started early for some as a few members of Wicked got out their trail shoes for a race on Friday night. Other Wicked Runners traveled to New Hampshire to get in a half marathon and a large crew came out to support Shannon Downey and the Patrick Downey 5K.

Congrats to all who raced! Don’t forget that our next Wicked Grand Prix Race is the Twin Lights Half Marathon on May 15. More information about the Wicked Grand Prix Series can be found by clicking on the following link: http://wickedrunningclub.com/race-info/wicked-grand-prix-series/

Remember to get your race results to Tim Short and he will post them on the next Weekend Race Results post!

Congrats to everyone!

Lots of races coming up this weekend, including the Patrick Downey 5K on Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to send an email to Tim Short with the name of your race and your results. Pictures would be great as well!

Also, leave a comment about the new look displaying the results! We are still trying to work out some issues, so please be patient. :)

Weekend Race Results

With everyone focused on the Boston Marathon, one might think that the racing world came to pause over this past weekend. This was not the case as Wicked had a strong presence at the Chase the Gorilla 5K in Ipswich and Wicked Runners took on the B.A.A. 5K and the 47th Annual Patriots Day Fun Run as well.

Thank you again to John Mahoney (As if he wasn’t busy enough with being the head volunteer for the Power Gel station) who helped out Tim Short with getting the race results compiled for this post. If you don’t see your name or the race you ran, please email Tim Short and he will update this post to make sure that you are included! Remember to email Tim with all of your results by Sunday night to be included in the Weekend Race Results. This will be even more important as we head into the busy summer racing season.
