Rules for the Wicked Grand Prix Series

The Wicked Running Club Grand Prix Series is for Wicked Running Club members.  It is designed to encourage participation in specific club races throughout the year, to promote competition among age group runners, and to recognize the runners who have excelled at a variety of distances over the course of the year.

Your age as of the Great Stew Chase (February 2010) will establish you in one of the 11 age groups for the entire Grand Prix season.

New Members will receive points starting with the first race they run as a Wicked Running Club member. Any previous Grand Prix races that they ran before joining the Club will not count.

Points are awarded as follows: Race points are determined by taking the fastest time in the age group and dividing that by your time, then multiplying that by 100. For example: Runner A’s time in the Olde Salem Green 5k is 18:23, runner B’s time is 21:05. 18:23(runner A)/21:05 (runner B) =0.866×100=86.6 I will always round up so there won’t be any decimals. So if you were Runner B your points would be 87. The winner of the Age group will receive 100 points.

The 2010 race series is sure to be a hit. We’ve made some changes this year and chosen a variety of races that will make this a “true race series”. Each race is a different length and difficulty. This series will prove to be a little more challenging than just a year full of 5K road races. We’ve also spread the races out more evenly over the course of the year, as well as cut down on the number of races in the series. For 2010, there are 8 races chosen on the schedule. You MUST complete any 6 of the races to be considered a series finisher. Only your top 6 scores count, but you can run all 8 if you wish. You’ll notice that we’ve also chosen races that will put Wicked runners all over the North Shore in a variety of towns. This was done to help gain exposure, and promote Wicked as the premier running club on the North Shore. So mark your calendars and let’s get as many Wicked runners out there as possible! This year the Grand Prix duties will be handled by T.R. Ramsdell, and Dan Barrett, so if you have any questions about the series or scoring, please direct your comments to their email.
